In this article, I am going to show you several handy man company myths that you’re probably aware of. These misinformation often hold back people from hiring a handyman. If you want more information regarding the handyman business, you better read this article.

Myth 1: Handymen need to know how to do everything

A lot of homeowners think that handymen should know every repair inside the house. This includes plumbing, electrical, HVAC, door, roof, window, and every other part of the house.

While there are many handymen that offer more services, not all of them know every repair inside a house. Every handyman has run into an issue that they don’t know how to solve. This doesn’t necessarily make them unskilled, they just don’t know everything is all. This is normal and should be expected of every handyman business company.

A lot of handyman companies will offer limited services, services that they know they’re good at. Some companies even have one specialized skill that they rely on. Like I said, not all companies offer the same thing. If you want to know more about different companies, you need to inquire and give each and every one a call.

Myth #2:  They won’t accept small jobs

Many homeowners think that handymen only fix major problems. A lot of them won’t bother calling professional help for what they think is a small problem. What ends up happening is they fix the problem themselves and end up making it worse.

If you don’t believe this, try to call in your local handyman and ask for help on even the menial task. Some companies even prepares small job because they can do many of it in a day. Major repair jobs on the other hand, will take time and will give a lot of stress to the handymen.

Myth #3:  Their quote/estimate don’t have a wiggle room

If you call in and requested a quote over the phone, they will quickly arrive with a number if you thoroughly describe the repairs that you need. You can also request a visit to have a much better estimate of the repair cost.

Most homeowners think that once the estimate is agreed upon, that is the actual cost of the repair. There are times where the repair would cost much higher or lower depending on the type of repair. Either way, don’t think that the estimate is the final cost of the repair.
